MUMBAI: Earlier this year, Kunal Kemmu made his directing debut with the comedy Madgaon Express, which starred Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi, Divyenndu, and Pratik Gandhi. Critics have praised the movie widely, and fans are eager to hear if there will be a sequel. Producer Ritesh Sidhwani, who co-produced the comedy film with Farhan Akhtar, recently talked about the possibility of a second sequel.

In an interview with the popular, the interviewer spoke about the likelihood of a Madgaon Express sequel, which was alluded to at the end of the movie. In response, Ritesh Sidhwani stated that Madgaon Express 2 was definitely being taken into consideration.

However, he also said, “The right person to answer that is Kunal Kemmu. But if you ask him, he will tell you yes. Will it be his next film? I don’t think so because that’s on him to decide as a filmmaker what he wants to do next.”

Moreover, Ritesh Sidhwani revealed that the script for Madgaon Express, written by actor-director Kunal Kemmu, remained unchanged throughout the production process. He credited Kunal’s conviction and belief in the project as key factors that contributed to the film’s success.

Just before, Kunal Kemmu has also talked about the potential for a sequel to his feature film debut. In an interview with the popular news portal, Kunal had said, “I’d love to (come with sequel). I have always maintained that when people came to watch ‘Madgaon Express’, they came with no expectations. But now, when they come next, there will be expectations. It will be my responsibility to meet these.”

In addition, he stated that he has been considering a few concepts for the follow-up but won't pitch until he is certain of his decision.

The movie was released in theatres in March of this year, and it became available for streaming on Prime Video last month. The plot of Madgaon Express is around Dodo, Pinku, and Ayush, three childhood friends who were never able to realize their youthful ambition of visiting Goa together. When they finally get back together years later to start their ideal journey, they unintentionally get drawn into the world of drug trafficking.
