MUMBAI: Saira Banu, who was admitted to Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital on August 24 following breathlessness, high blood pressure and high sugar, has been diagnosed with depression and coronary syndrome. She was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on September 1.
The doctors at Hinduja Hospital have advised an angiography. Once the veteran actress grants permission, an angiography will be performed to ascertain the cause of her heart problem.
Saira Banu lost her husband and veteran actor Dilip Kumar on July 7 and since then she has been heartbroken and depressed.
Reportedly, the doctors at Hinduja have advised an angiogram procedure to understand the cause of Saira Banu's heart condition. However, the Padosan actress has refused permission, a hospital doctor confirmed on Thursday.
“Yesterday, her cardiac tests happened, and she has been diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome.”, a Hinduja Hospital doctor told a leading news agency. ''Once she gives her consent, doctors can perform an angiography.", he added.

Saira Banu may be discharged from the ICU and moved to a room soon.
In an exclusive conversation on September 2, Faisal Farooqui, Saira Banu and late Dilip Kumar's family friend, said, “She is quite broken since the departure of Dilip Sahab. She is a woman who has lived every moment in the last 55 years with him. You and I can only feel this pain. But there has been a vacuum in her life. It may be that his sorrow and the stress is bothering her.”.
He further added, “Her morning used to start with Dilip Sahab and she used to pass the night taking care of him. This is not happening from today. She has been doing this for 55 years. She even gave up her career for him.”.
Faisal Farooqui also said that Saira Banu's condition isn't critical and that she might be discharged soon. He said, “Doctors have advised Saira Banu for angiography. According to that, her medicines will be prescribed. It’s not a serious issue. Doctors are saying that she might be discharged soon. They can start the procedure for angiography later too.”.
