MUMBAI: Tusshar Kapoor will next be seen in Maarrich which is slated to release on 9th December 2022. Apart from playing the lead role, Tusshar has also produced the film. The movie is directed by Dhruv Lather, and also stars Seerat Kapoor, Anita Hassanandani Reddy, and Dipannita Sharma.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Tusshar and spoke to him about the film, box office dynamics, and more…
This is your second film as a producer. How excited and nervous are you for it?
When you say things like ‘it’s your second film as a producer’, you are making me nervous. Basically, I am not nervous, and I am willing to accept whatever the audience decides to give the verdict to our film. If the film is good for them, it will find its audience, and if it has the right ingredients then nothing can stop the movie. So, more excited and not nervous!
Today, the box office dynamics are very unpredictable. So, did you ever think of releasing Maarrich on OTT?
It was made for a theatrical release, and by then the cinemas had opened up. So, there was no turning back and saying ke OTT pe lana hai. But of course stress was there as it took time for people to come back to theatres. But now people are coming to theatres, and even if films are not working (in the long run), they are getting good openings. Also, I feel that all the films have their destiny; if people won’t watch it in theatres; they will watch it on OTT. So, the point is that people should watch the movie wherever they watch it. Today, you can’t keep a journey of a film just till cinema hall; from there it goes to satellite and then on OTT, the amalgamation process is when you can pass the verdict of the film. Audience today is very moody, some of them want to watch it in theatres and some want to watch it on OTT. The most important thing is that they give love to your film wherever they watch it.
How difficult is it to produce a film as well as act in it?
It’s very challenging when you are making a small film, and when you are acting and producing it. One has to manage time and if the time management is good then you can do both things. It’s also about the quality of team members you have with you. In my production, the work that my team does that’s more important as because of them I will be able to make a film. If my team is not good, I am nobody. I am grateful that my team was very good for this film, and they have done their best in a good amount of time. We have made the film in 50 days, and then we distributed the film, and now, we are releasing the film; promotions are happening. So, it’s a lot for a small film.
