On August 15, 2024, Mandira posted a collage of memories with her late husband Raj on her Instagram account. The devoted wife couldn't resist giving him an emotional homage on his birth anniversary. She wrote in the note that she misses her hubby every day and uploaded the video.
Mandira wrote in the note that on his birthday, she missed him more than the kids did. The former actress and now designer also spoke of her "wonderful" husband's kindness, generosity, booming voice, captivating enthusiasm, and loving heart.
Mandira wrote, "Happy Birthday Raji.. it’s been more than 3 years since you left us. And we think of you and miss you every day.. But on your birthday, we think of you a little bit more and celebrate you a little bit more.. and the MANY things that made up the wonderful you, that you were: your selflessness, your contagious energy, your kindness, your booming voice, your big, huge, loving Heart..We think of you fondly and miss you sorely as we celebrate you today on the day that you were born.."
Previously, Mandira talked candidly about her husband Raj Kaushal's terrible death for the first time in an interview with the popular news portal. She talked about the challenges she encountered as a result of it and that she gave him thought every day. Mandira revealed during their conversation that the family had a very difficult year immediately following his death.
She was quoted as saying, "The first year was very, very, very, very hard. The first of everything is just impossible to deal with. The first birthday, the first anniversary, the first Diwali, the first Christmas, the first New Year. The second one is a little bit easier, the third one is a little bit easier."
Mandira also said during that same chat that she had treatment to help her deal with her sadness. Yet occasionally, she would hear or see something that brought Raj to mind. She said that she had to move past it since she had a family to look after and that she had somewhat recovered.
She mentioned, "There are moments when we remember him because of a song. I've done the therapy I've needed to, there are times I still do it. As human beings, we are always a work in progress… What I can do now is talk about it. It makes me emotional, but I can. There was a time I couldn't. But I won't break down… I started working two months after it happened… I have to support my family and myself. I need to do it for my children."
Much earlier in her career, Mandira Bedi went for an audition and that's how she met Raj Kaushal. Their energies clicked, even though they was unable to be more distinct from each other, and after three dates, they were certain they would advance their relationship. Three years after they started dating, the pair got married in February 1999. Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal were blessed with a son, Vir Kaushal, after a 12-year marriage.
Vir Kaushal became a big brother nine years after the birth of Tara Bedi Kaushal, a baby girl, to Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal. However, on June 30, 2021, Raj died of a heart attack, shattering the lives of the four-member family.
