Md. Azharuddin's visit to Eros office sparks further speculation...read to know more

For the last couple of days, the island city of Mumbai has been playing home to celebrities from across the globe, all of whom have been pouring in to watch the last test match of cricket’s greatest son, Sachin Tendulkar. While all the media spotlight is on Sachin's historic test match, one visitor seemed to be making his own discreet moves off the field in the world of entertainment – Sachin’s former captain, Mohammed Azharuddin. We spotted a casually dressed Azhar at Eros International’s office yesterday. Dressed in an ash-coloured t-shirt and jeans, Azhar arrived at Eros’ office in the afternoon and was ushered straight in to the plush conference room immediately thereby denying us a chance of catching up with the former cricketer. Just recently, speculations were rife in the media about TV czarina Ekta Kapoor having signed a deal to produce a biopic on Azhar’s life with actors Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in running to essay the lead role of Azhar. But Azhar’s meeting with Eros’ top bosses yesterday raised our ever-curious eye-brows by a mile. Has Azhar changed partners and instead inked a deal with Eros, we wondered out loud. We immediately touched base with our very reliable source at Balaji who told us that the movie on Azhar is indeed still on and an official confirmation would soon be made. Now if that’s true, then why was Azhar paying a visit to Eros’ office? We rang up Kamal Jain, Chief Financial Officer at Eros International. Kamal confirmed Azhar’s visit yesterday but said that it was a friendly one and not at all professional. “Yes, Azhar did visit me and a couple of other people since he is in town for Sachin’s 200th test but we are not signing any movie with Azhar,” said Kamal. When we broached the topic of the former captain having inked a deal with Ekta to produce a biopic on his life, Kamal said, “I cannot comment on that but we are not making a film with or on Azhar and yesterday’s visit was just a friendly one.” We also left Azhar a text message asking him about his filmy plans with Eros to which pat came his reply…‘No’. Now, this is not the first time we are seeing celebs going into the clichéd denial mode in Bollywood, are we? Also Azhar's 'love affair' with Bollywood is an open secret and we wonder whether his meeting with the CFO of Eros has anything to do with him planning to fund the Company's numerous ventures or film projects. And having seen the graceful Azhar’s penchant for scoring runs on the cricket field with élan, we are sure he will do well in the entertainment field as well!!!
