MUMBAI: Woh Lamhe movie actor Shiny Ahuja witnessed lots of success after appearing in several hit movies. But unfortunately, one controversy led to the U-turn in his career. Let’s talk about his roller coaster stardom in the Hindi Film Industry.
Shiney Ahuja was born in May 1973, and he belonged to a Punjabi family from New Delhi. He completed his studies at St. Xavier's School, Ranchi. He later attended RV College of Engineering in Bangalore.

After completing his studies the actor got a chance to work in a soft drink commercial, from which he got recognition. After this debut advertisement, he went on to appear in over 40 ads. He was featured in several music videos, including Stereo Nation's Pyar Ho Gaya and Altaf Raja’s Dil Ka Haal.
Later the actor went on the audition for Sudhir Mishra, for his movie Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.
After being selected among the 200 competitors contesting for the role, he captivated the audience's attention and also appeared at several prestigious film festivals. He then made his way into acting in Sanjay F. Gupta’s Karam and Ruchi Narain’s Sins, followed by a cameo appearance in Aamir Khan and Kajol starrer Fanaa in 2006.
Later the actor climbed the ladder of success as he appeared in 2006 release Gangster, helmed by Anurag Basu. His role as Daya, a gangster, was well-received by the audiences, making him an overnight star. This marked the start of a flourishing career, with superhit movies such as Woh Lamhe (2006), Life In A… Metro (2006), Khoya Khoya Chand (2007), and, Hijack (2008).
Being at the peak of his career, Shiney’s life in the year 2009 got shattered after his 19-year-old house help accused the actor of r*ping her in his Mumbai house. The surprising claims left all the fans of the actor and the entertainment world in shock.The actor was booked under Section 376 (rape) and Section 506 (threat to kill) of the Indian Penal Code.
In the year 2011, the actor’s maid changed her statement and allegations of being r*ped. However, the court felt that the incident was done under pressure, following which the actor was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment in 2011. The actor came out on bail after his wife, Anupam Ahuja's infinite efforts.
From a controversial phase of 2009 to 2015, he was cast in three films- Dheeme Dheeme, Ghost, and the last one was Welcome Back helmed by Anees Bazmee. But unfortunately, none of these movies have turned beneficial for his career and ever since, Shiney has been out of the limelight.
