MUMBAI: Film Mili, which has Janhvi Kapoor in the leading role has been the talk of the town ever since the trailer was out. The film also has Sunny Kaushal, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa, Sanjay Suri, Vikram Kochar and others playing significant roles.
Right after watching the trailer, fans were looking forward to watch the film. The trailer looked quite promising and interesting. Today, the film has finally hit the big screens and here is a complete review of the movie.
The story of the film revolves around the main character Mili, which is played by Janhvi Kapoor, who is all set to fly abroad and currently working in a multinational food chain. On the other hand, Sunny Kaushal as Sameer Kumar is the love interest of Milli. During the normal working hours, Mili gets stuck inside of a freezing storage. The way she fights for her survival throughout the night is amazingly shown in the film.
The screenplay of the movie is pretty good and it keeps your interest level high right from the very first scene, especially in the second half. Also, direction given by Mathukutty Xavier is decent enough.
Talking about the performances, it is out and out Janhvi Kapoor Show. It wouldn't be wrong to say that the acting performance of Janhvi Kapoor is getting better movie after movie. Janhvi Kapoor is seen in a different avatar in the movie and it is one of the most experimental roles she has played. She has decently played her character Milli on - screen, specially in the second half where the story demands acting. Meanwhile, it is a treat to watch Manoj Pahwa as the worried and loving father. Sunny Kaushal and Vikram Kochar were decent on their part, whereas Sanjay Suri as the senior inspector will be seen in a different avatar as well.
Talking about the positive points of the movie, it has to be the plot which Bollywood has never seen. Yes, we have seen a similar movie in Bollywood, titled Trapped which had Rajkummar Rao, but this one is refreshing and something less seen in Bollywood. Also, it has to be the performance of Janhvi Kapoor which will definitely grab your attention right from the first scene till the last scene, especially in the second half. The tricks and techniques which are used by the actress in the second half to survive in the freezing cold storage are pretty decent. The background music definitely enhances your movie-watching experience. Also, the song Jeena Hoga definitely gives you goosebumps when it's heard during the film.
Talking about the negative points, it has to be the writing, specially in the first half the movie. It takes a lot of time to get into the main plot which make your interest level go down. There are some songs in the first half which seems little forceful and which should have been trimmed.
Well, having said that, Mili is a movie which Bollywood has never seen. If you are a Janhvi Kapoor fan, you should not be missing this one.
