Mr & Mrs Mahi actress Janhvi Kapoor recalls being trolled for clapping during a tribute to her late mother Sridevi on a reality show; Read to know more

MUMBAI: Hindi Film industry actress Janhvi Kapoor is all set for her new release Mr & Mrs Mahi, opposite Rajkummar Rao. Despite working in the Hindi film industry the actress is all set with her Telugu debut with Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan’s film Devara. Recently the actress has revealed about her mother's teachings and recalled their moments together.  

In a recent interview, the actress recalled the time when she was promoting her first film Dhadak after some months of her mom’s death. She revealed how while promoting the film on a dance reality show, the makers decided to give her late mother Sridevi a tribute, without informing her or her team. While the tribute was mesmerising, she couldn’t handle it and suffered a panic attack on the sets.

Talking to an entertainment portal, Janhvi said, “I was promoting Dhadak and everything was very fresh. My team was taking care that I didn’t get reminded of my mother, but this show didn’t tell us that they were going to give a tribute to mom. So they played an audio-visual of all my mother’s songs with an emotional voice over, and these kids started dancing to pay homage. It was beautiful, but I wasn’t ready. I couldn’t breathe anymore. I started howling and crying. I ran off the stage and went to my van. Had a proper panic attack. They obviously cut all that out and instead put up another clip of me clapping and smiling, and people were like, ‘Does she really not give a f***?’ But what happened was very different.”

The actress shared about the netizens' judgement when she talks about her mother. If she doesn’t talk about the late actress, she is dubbed “snooty,” if she is trying to be happy, “they said she wasn’t affected. It was very confusing.”

On the professional front, the actress's last appearance was seen in her movie Bawaal opposite Varun Dhawan, where now she is all set for her comeback in theatres with her upcoming movie Mr.& Mrs. Mahi opposite Rajkummar Rao.
