MUMBAI : Abhay Verma's recent performance in Munjya has captured everyone's interest. The young star is receiving an abundance of accolades for the movie, but did you know that he tried out for The Archies, the much-discussed film directed by Zoya Akhtar? In a recent interview, Abhay disclosed that he had tried out for The Archies, but he decided not to work on the project since he was more interested in doing the 2023 film Safed.

“Both The Archies and Safed were happening at the same time. I chose Safed over The Archies. I was in the process of The Archies but I really wanted to do Safed,” Abhay said as quoted by the popular news agency. “I had auditioned for The Archies and had met Zoya. But, Safed ka ho hi gaya tha toh I decided to go with the latter (I got Safed so I decided to go with it),” the actor added.
Agastya Nanda, Suhana Khan, and Kushi Kapoor made their Bollywood debuts with the release of The Archies in December 2023. Vedang Raina, Aditi Saigal, Mihir Ahuja, and Yuvraj Menda were significant parts of the Zoya Akhtar film.
During their conversation, Abhay Verma also disclosed that he was originally set to star in Gangubai Kathiawadi, the film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Alia Bhatt.
“I wish I could have done that film but I had got another project at that time. But, then a few days after I couldn’t do Gangubai Kathiawadi, I met Alia (Bhatt) for a brand shoot. Just a few days back, I had met Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir for Gangubai Kathiawadi,” he added.
Speaking of Abhay Verma's Munjya, the movie is a horror-comedy with a Konkan and Pune backdrop. In addition to Sharvari and Abhay, Mona Singh plays a significant role in the movie. It tells the tale of the mythical creature of the same name that wreaks havoc in Bittu's (Abhay) world. At the box office, it has already surpassed the Rs 100 crore threshold.
