MUMBAI: Mouni Roy has been winning hearts with her acting chops and style statements. She has undoubtedly carved a niche for herself in the entertainment industry. After working in television world for many years, she stepped into the world of cinema as a leading actress. She made her debut as a lead actress with Akshay Kumar’s Gold and since then there has been no looking back.
There is no doubt that Mouni Roy in many ways is synonymous with success and popularity on Indian Television. Then be it her role in her debut show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi or her super hit stint with the two seasons of the supernatural drama Naagin. And Gold took her stardom to another level. However, this is not her firs Bollywood film. Yes, you heard it right!
Well, for the uninitiated, Mouni Roy was seen in a short role opposite Abhishek Bachchan in the 2004 film Run. That was long before her TV debut. The actress struck gold with her television debut on Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi as Krishna Tulsi in 2007. Naagin took her stardom to another level. Mouni Roy played the role of Shivanya in Season 1 and of Shivangi in Season 2. She has also made her debut in films with the Punjabi film Hero Hitler In Love back in 2011. The film was based on the lines of a reincarnation story. It is Akshay Kumar starrer movie Gold that opened many more doors for her in Bollywood. The film is a sports biopic based on the life of hockey player Balbir Singh.
