Interestingly, his upcoming movie Jolly LLB also has a law angle wherein he plays a judge. This film which has been directed by Subhash Kapoor and produced by 20th Century Fox is a satire on the judiciary system, and also stars Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi. Moviechakkar probed as to why he chose two successive films in which he plays legal professionals to which he said, “I choose characters that have an interesting character graph. Characters that go through a conflict interest me, and it is immaterial whether I play a gangster or a positive character. I am drawn to a character that has an interesting journey. I don’t play a judge who hits the hammer; there’s a lot more to his personality than just that.” Of all the roles he has done, he talked about the role that lies close to his heart. “All my past roles have been etched in my memory. However, my current role is always the one closest to my heart,” said Saurabh. Shukla comes from a theatre background. When asked whether theatre experience hones one’s acting skills, the actor quipped, “Theatre helps you to practice acting but there is no guarantee whatsoever that theatre actors are better than those from a non-theatre background.” On the films that have made him proud, he averred, “I am proud of quite a few of them- Bandit Queen, Satya, Mithya, Raghu Romeo, Khoya Khoya Chand, Barfi and Slum Dog Millionaire (though I had a small role in the film).” Saurabh, May you shine for a long time in your career!!
