MUMBAI: Neetu Chandra's produced Maithili film- 'Mithila Makhaan' is the first film to get national award from Bihar-
While there has been news doing the rounds recently about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dropping a hint on Maithili language getting included in the school curriculum of Bihar school, the first producer of Bihar who has won National award for a Maithili Film- Mithila Makhaan', Neetu Chandra finally opens up on how elated she feels with this decision and throws some light on the importance of the regional languages.
Speaking about the same, National award winner Neetu Chandra shared, "Champaran talkies is a production house, founded by brother Nitin Chandra and me, we are the first ones to get a national award for Bihar in the language of Maithili. There are 5 languages of Bihar- Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi, Angika and Vajjika and Maithili is considered one of the most important languages. I feel very proud that my brother Nitin Chandra has sowed the seed of this production house and has become the first national winner writer and director of Bihar for the Maithili film- 'Mithila Makhaan'. I believe that once a language dies, dies the whole society - be it the food, culture, music and clothes. Everything becomes extinct with the language. Therefore, I plead and urge that they should surely include Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi and the other regional languages of Bihar in the school curriculum. It's very important. And to start with Maithili would be a great step ahead. If we include this, it will just not be state changing affairs but also society and life changing event. It will open up a lot more scope for the people of Bihar. Although it's a long debate to have but the most important thing as the first step would be getting Maithili language included in the school curriculum. I would like to request everyone to stand together for this amazing cause and support it. Additionally, I have been very proud of my brother Nitin Chandra who's been fighting for the languages of Bihar for the past 10 years. Our YouTube channel titled as Bejod.in has been working on the different languages of Bihar by making short-films, music videos, documentaries etc, therefore I feel very proud that people now have started talking about the importance of the languages of Bihar and people are taking it seriously wherein my brother and I had started talking about it for a decade now."
