TellyChakkar recently interacted with Neena Gupta and spoke to her about Vadh, her experience of working with Sanjay Mishra, and more…
In thrillers like Vadh, filmmakers mainly prefer to cast young actors. So, what was your first reaction when you were offered the film?
I was very surprised. I got very excited because in a simple story they have given a twist. It’s a thriller but through a film, it is trying to say a lot of things. It’s not just a thriller; it also talks about relationships like our relationship with our son. A lot of important things are there in the film.
How was your experience of working with Sanjay Mishra?
He was initially scared of me as he felt that I was senior to him at the National School of Drama. He used to behave with me in a very respectful way, and say ‘aap’. But after a few days, he got normal (laughs).
Today, one cannot predict which film will work at the box office and which will become a flop. In this scenario, the makers of Vadh are risking and releasing the film in theatres. Does that make you happy?
Yes, filmmakers should take risks because this is a post-Covid phase and I feel it will go a little slowly. Also, it will work because the content being made is interesting. In the past year, so many different kinds of films have been made. It works or doesn’t work, that's a different thing.
