Aamir Khan’s brother Faisal Khan will be making his comeback as an actor after almost a decade with a film title Chinar. And yes, this one’s going to be a romantic story.
Says Faisal, “It feels great to be making a comeback as an actor. To be honest, I was surprised and shocked that I have got a film. I was out of acting line for almost nine years and I had lost interest in acting and had told my business manager that I am not interested in acting and to stop bringing me roles. I had decided that I would be a script doctor in Aamir Khan Productions and that is what I was doing. Suddenly, a director approached me and insisted on casting me in his film. I listened to his story but I was not too interested. This gave my manager an idea that I am interested in acting again and he started getting me offers.”
Faisal sifted through a lot many scripts before finalizing on Chinar as his comeback vehicle. “I love the story of Chinar and that made me sign it. It’s a very challenging role and I play a jilted lover whose life undergoes a change after heartbreak.”
The movie is set in Kashmir and is based on a Kashmir novel titled Jhil Jalte Hai. And Faisal is quick to point out that the movie is not based on terrorism. “The movie is 40% ready and we are targeting a May release for it.”
Faisal who also works as a script doctor in Aamir Khan Productions also didn’t seek Aamir’s advice before signing this film. “No. I didn’t consult Aamir before signing this one. Aamir thinks at a different level. Everyone can’t afford to be Aamir Khan and not everyone can be like him. I would like to approach my profession in my own different way. Also, I am myself a script doctor and know quite well how to choose the right script.”
While Faisal may not have consulted Aamir on Chinar, he is not averse to directing his superstar brother in a movie. “I would love to direct when I grow older and lose my looks. And yes, I would love to direct Aamir one day,” says Faisal before signing off.
Well, let’s hope that happens soon.
