MUMBAI: Vaishali Takkar’s Raksha Bandhan: Rasal Apni Bhai Ki Dhal co-star, Nishant Singh Malkani played the character of her husband. Although they were married on-screen, they were the best of friends off-screen. In a recent interview with a prominent news portal, he shared that he was aware about the whole story between the actress and her neighbour/ex Rahul.
He had also added that Vaishali was excited about her wedding in November and had shown him photos of her California based, fiancé. Nishant shared that Vaishali would confide in him about her problems, and as a friend he kept it a secret since she wanted to handle things by herself, but now he will fight against Rahul and is ready to help with the investigation.
"Vaishali was a dear friend. It was very shocking for me when I heard the news. I woke up from my sleep when I heard the news, and I couldn't believe it. I first thought she passed away in some accident or some incident happened to her. But when I got to know that she took her life, I was shattered. Because she was a very strong girl. I spoke to her a week ago and she showed me her fiancé’s photos. She also requested me to not share the pictures with anyone as she herself wanted to show it to everyone. She was so happy, she told me that she was going to get married in November and in fact had invited me for her wedding. We made so many plans about her wedding. It is very unfortunate. I really pray that wherever she is she's happy. If she was so troubled, stressed and depressed, I just pray and hope that now she is in a peaceful space," he said.
Opening up about his bond with Vaishali, and that she had shared about Rahul harassing her with him, he said, "She played my on-screen wife in Rakshabandhan and we shared a lot of stuff with each other. I would call her Kanak ji and she would address me as Shiva. We spent 12-15 hours of our day together on the sets. We shared a lot of stuff and had a great bond. I knew the entire thing about this person Rahul who was harassing her, I knew a lot of in depth things. She always shared and confided with me so it was my duty to not leak her personal life with anyone else. But, now when I am hearing that because of that person Vaishali has taken this decision, I will give my best and will fight against that person and stand by my friend. If anyone asks me I am going to tell everything in detail and help the investigations."
Vaishali was found dead at her home in Indore on a Saturday night (October 15). She left behind an 8 page suicide note, wherein she revealed that she was being mentally tortured by her neighbour, Rahul Navlani and his wife Disha.
Recently, during an interview, Vaishali's brother had spoken about how their neighbour Rahul and his wife were harassing his sister. Neeraj said, "Woh usse aksar dhamkaata tha ki tera ghar nahi basne dunga...shaadi nahi hone dunga. Diary mein Vaishali ne sab relationship ke baare mein likh rakha tha. Jis ladke se sagai hui thi, usko Rahul message karta tha aur Vaishali ko dhamkaata tha. (He used to threaten her that he would never let her settle down or get married. Vaishali has written about all her relationships in her diary. Rahul used to message the man Vaishali was engaged to and would threaten her)."
