'Panchayat,' an OTT series directed by Deepak Mishra, stars Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, and Raghuvir Yadav. The third season, which the creators recently released, is already getting fantastic reviews.

In an exclusive interview with an entertainment portal,, main lead Jitendra Kumar, popularly known as Jitu speaks about his character Abhishek, who is Sachiv ji ( Secretary) of the Panchayat.

When he was asked about if he had ever made any  attempts to bring fresh dimensions to the role he had been performing for the past five and a half years. To this he said, "The writers have put in a lot of thought while writing the show, and how they want to showcase each character. At times when you interrupt the writers, and try to make some changes, you realise that there was no need, as they have a reason for the way the characters are behaving in a particular fashion, and the actor wouldn’t get to know about it just by reading the script. And mostly the writers have already thought about what you might want to add and they have a much better plan in mind, so after a point you feel embarrassed and continue with what they have given you.”

When asked to pick between living in the city and the rural during the three months the crew spent filming for the third season in Mahodiya village in the Madhya Pradesh region of Sehore, Jitu quickly responded that he would prefer to stay in the city. He said, "Mumbai is a very nice city. It's fun to live here. And, there are a lot of facilities and Mumbai feels like a home. It holds you back. So, there are some good things about Mumbai. But, of course, that break is very important when you go to your town or wherever you belong to. So, I enjoy that too. But, yes, I prefer Mumbai. Mumbai is the best city."
