Political war erupts between Gul Panag and Kirron Kher

Gul Panag and Kirron Kher
The political battlefield has just got a tad warmer with the presence of two Bollywood actresses – the feisty Kirron Kher and the mercurial Gul Panag – two new Lok Sabha nominees from BJP and AAP respectively each contesting against one another from Chandigarh. And before one could even wink, it’s already daggers drawn between the two. For starters, Gul sounded rather upset at the BJP for raking up an age-old tweet where Gul apparently praised Modi. The tweet in question from Gul posted a year ago read : When it is between the fire and the fying pan – when you have been roasted long enough in the former – might as well try the latter?? No #Namo4PM. Chiding BJP for failing to understand the sarcasm behind the tweet, Gul wrote, “Dear right wingers. Thank you for showering me with love and affection. Not sure if you got the fire and frying pan part. But thanks anyways.” Not done with that, Gul took the battle to her opponent Kirron Kher's court. Firing the first bullet Gul Panag who in a rather unceremonious way took a jibe at Kirron Kher's advancing years: “Doubt if I’ll have the energy to run around like this and serve my people when I’m 60. I guess that’s why there’s normally a retirement age.” Kirron who had just joined Twitter, responded back in kind My father is 101 years old and still happening. He said," Good Luck Puttar. You have Always been winner." For me Life starts at 60.: I may not be a marathon runner but I know Slow and Steady wins the race. I love the Josh in our Karyakartas. What's however interesting to see is despite this charged political battle Gul showed exemplary spirit by retweeting Kirron Kher’s tweets and even those which practically were not in Gul’s favour. For instance, one of the tweets that Gul retweeted read: “Kirron Kher is a heavyweight in every sense in comparison to feather light Gul Panag.” Now that’s the spirit we like and appreciate. Let’s see who wins the battle of votes here. Whoever it is, Bollywood will have one woman politician to look forward to in future.
