Rituparna Sengupta, one of the leading actresses of Tollywood, says that her latest film Prakton revived single screen theatres of Bengal.
The said film, which also features superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee in the lead role, made a business of three crore within three days of its release.
“It was said that single screen theatres in Kolkata were dying. So, I feel this film gave oxygen to them as there are reports that halls like Ashoka, Navina, Priya, Mitra were running houseful,” Rituparna said to Tellychakkar.com.
She added, “What I have learnt from this film is that commercial cinema can be relived if they are made in a proper way.”
The actress also mentioned that Prakton is an important film in the history of Bengali cinema.
She opined, “It is a special film in the history of Bengali cinema. People are watching this film in hordes with so much love. I don’t remember when I last saw such craze among the people for a Bengali film!”
“The film has been released in 26 cities of India and also at various places of North America. It has been promoted by the well known company Eros International. I don't think any other Bengali film has received such bigger platform before,” she added.
Talking about the compliment that touched her heart, she shared, “The biggest compliment has come from the navigator of Nandan Theatre, who told me that I have done a priceless film.”
The actress couldn’t stop praising director duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee.
She said, “They are the real (film) makers. They know how to make a film with Bangaliana for the audiences of Bengali cinema.”
Rituparna, who earlier worked with the director duo in Bela Seshe, also a hit film, was present at a jewellery shop to launch its special mangalsutra collection inspired from the film “Praktan”.
