Priyanka Chopra almost quit and decided to go back to Bareily; here’s how Gadar director Anil Sharma came to rescue

MUMBAI: Anil Sharma gave us ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ in 2001 and once again left us awestruck with Gadar 2 in 2023. Gadar 2 was a sequel and a great one indeed. Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprised their roles with an addition of Simrat Kaur who was paired opposite the young actor Utkarsh Sharma.

Anil Sharma also gave us another amazing love story in 2003 which was ‘Hero: Love Story of a Spy’ which was once again starring Sunny Deol. This time, the movie marked Hindi movie debut of Priyanka Chopra, before which she had made her mark in South Indian cinema.

However, there are somethings which the audience might not know and Anil Sharma revealed such things. Siddharth Kannan got in touch with director/producer Anil Sharma and we got to know some insights about Priyanka Chopra’s nose job going wrong and how it affected her career.

In the interview, Anil Sharma said, “Naak aisi tedhi ho jaye toh aadmi kaise rakhega.” When asked if is broke her, Anil Sharma said, “100% tuti hui thi. Kyu nahi tutegi?” Anil Sharma even revealed what happned after he came to know the whole matter. He said, “...nose mein issue ho gaya tha. Sinus ho gaya tha, operation karwaya tha, jo thoda wrond ho gaya toh naak thodi aisi ho gayi. Usme uss bechari ka koi dosh nahi tha. Priyanka Chopra jaisi complete actress maine aaj tak nahi dekhi. Unko unka goal maalum hai kahaan pe jana hai, aur woh wahi kaam karti hai, na left jaati na right jaati, Arjun tarah unki nazar sirf machhli ki aankh par hai.”

Anil Sharma further revealed that Priyanka Chopra was ready to pack her bags and go back to Bareily but he stopped her. The director said, “Maine kaha aap ruko. Fir maine Pandari saab ko call kiya, woh Yashraj ke best makeup man the, ittefaq ki baat thi, Priyanka ka luck tha ki woh ussi waqt aa gaye.”

After her Hindi debut in Anil Sharma directorial, there was no looking back for the actress and today we all can see how successful of an actress she has become.
