MUMBAI :Recently we heard the news that Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is all set to be featured in Mahesh Manjrekar’s Marathi film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This has created quite a stir and he stated, “Jitna mera dam hai laga doonga.” The film is supposed to be India’s first Pan-Indian Marathi film.

Akshay who has also acted in the Marathi film Aadhaar and also produced 72 Miles—Ek Pravaas and Chumbak. Now, there are other Bollywood big-wigs who have made a significant contribution to Marathi cinema.

Ajay Devn who is married to half-Marathi actress Kajol has produced the Marathi films Vitti Dandu in 2014 and Aapla Manus in 2018, in which he also had a cameo.

Big B who owes much to Mumbai city for his stardom has also shown his love for Marathi language. He has sung Marathi renditions of the songs ‘Pasaydaan’, ‘Sukhkarta Dukhharta’, ‘Shishu la nivedan’ and ‘Tuljapurla jau chala’. He produced Vihir, and did a full fledged Marathi film role in AB Aani CD with Vikram Gokhale.

Priyanka not only produced the 2016 Marathi film Ventilator under her banner Purple Pebble Pictures. The film did exceedingly well and earned Rs. 25 crore from a Rs. 3.5 crore production budget. Her other Marathi productions include Kaay Re Rascalaa, Firebrand and Paani.

Hrithik had a spectacular special appearance in the 2017 Marathi film Hrudayantar. He was shown as his character of Krrish, who comes to meet a sick child. The performance was so powerful without a single word uttered by the actor or the child and was heart touching.
