Priyanka, Sonu and Sunidhi make India proud in UNICEF 'Imagine' video

This New Year when half the world was immersed in drunken revelries, it was Beatles legend John Lennon’s anthem of hope and peace, Imagine that held sway in the capitals of some of the major countries of the world.Imagine is an attempt to inspire a global movement towards seeking a better future for every child in this world.

To germinate and garner more support for this initiative, live performances were organized on New Year at Cape Town, London, Rio de Janeiro and New York. Through these performances, light was thrown on the need to take urgent action to address key challenges facing children, including poverty, violence, the impact of climate change, and the barriers that prevent so many children from reaching their full potential.

On the creative front to attract more attention, artistes from across the world were roped in to create a World version video of Lennon’s classic, Imagine. From David Guetta to Katy Perry, Nicole Scherzinger, Will.I.Am, Adam Lambert, actors, singers are seen making an appearance in the video appealing to take urgent note of the issues related to children. Popular voices from Bulgaria, the Philippines and Jamaica have also been featured in the video.

A total of 56 performers from across the globe have been featured in the song video Making India proud in this global initiative are versatile actress Priyanka Chopra, who is also UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Bollywood’s best known male vocalist Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. All three can be seen singing their lines in this video.

Speaking on his involvement in this prestigious initiative by UNICEF, Sonu Nigam earlier said, “It feels great to be part of UNICEF’s initiative in support of children welfare the world over. This is indeed a very good and charitable cause and I fully support it. What makes it even more special is John Lennon’s iconic song Imagine which works beautifully for this cause. It is Universal Music India who made my involvement in this global project from UNICEF possible, so a special thanks to them.”

Priyanka had earlier tweeted, “Soooooo freakin cool to be a part of this video!! Singing with John Lennon! Who wud have thot! Yay! Thank you.” Indeed a proud moment for India, we say.
