Madalsa Sharma is amongst one of those few lucky actresses who has got to debut with Rajshri Productions, especially with the heart-throb Rajeev Khadelwal as the lead.
Yes, the actress will be seen opposite the charming actor Rajeev in the upcoming movie, Samrat & Company.
“I am extremely happy to be associated with this project, for Rajshri Productions is shifting to a thriller, adventure and suspense genre for the first time ever. The story is more like that of Sherlock Homes. It’s being directed by Kaushik Ghatak and Kavita Barjatiya,” says the actress to give us a gist of the film.
Interestingly, this is not the first film that Madalsa is a part of, though it is her Bollywood debut as she goes on to narrate, “I started my movie career down south with Telugu and Kannada films. I then shot for a German film last year and a Punjabi film too. Overall I’ve worked in 13 to 14 films. I had been looking forward to getting a Bollywood offer for a while, but I wasn’t being offered any good projects till this movie happened.”
Do we get to see you doing any bold scenes in the film? “It’s a Rajshri film; so it can’t really get bold. I am shown as a young teenage girl who is modern and lives in Manali with her parents. She is really attached to her family that is extraordinarily rich. She also has certain ideologies of love and she is rebellious when it comes to protecting her father and rest of the family members. In fact, as the story progresses, an issue erupts in her family and that’s when she hires the private detective Samrat.”
Have you done any bold scenes in your previous movies? “I haven’t done bold scenes like Mallika Sherawat for sure. Even in south, bold means running around the trees. Having said this, I have no inhibitions in doing bold scenes but at the same time I have my own boundaries. If the story really needs a scene I might extend that boundary to an inch or two but not beyond that,” confirms the pretty girl.
On working with Rajeev Khandelwal she says, “He is an experienced actor and during our first conversation itself I realised that he deserved the role he is playing. He is an intense performer and I got to learn a lot from him, which includes dedication and passion.”
Do you have a list of actors or directors that you’d like to work with in the future? “I don’t have a list though I personally like Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Kashyap and Anurag Basu’s work for its different. I would want my work to speak for its self and directors to cast me for my hard work,” states the upcoming actor.
The actress likes exercising in her free time. “In my free time I try and catch up on as much beauty sleep as I can. I jog, exercise, do aerobics, dance and swim.”
A fitness freak by nature, we ask the girl if she is fond of size zero. “According to me a little bit of flesh is always good, but not the thunder thighs of South. A pale, skinny structure is not appealing but I had also become size zero at one point. Majorly I feel one must work on his or her body as per their role.”
Any more projects in hand? “I do have a few Telugu films to shoot for. As far as Hindi films are concerned, I haven’t bagged any path breaking projects yet.”
What are your expectations from Samrat & Company? “I just hope everyone comes and watches the film and appreciates it,” ends the actress.
We wish you luck, girl!!
