Ratan Tata passes away at the age of 86; here's all you need to know

MUMBAI: Earlier, it was reported that Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital in a critical health condition. However, the type of his illness wasn't revealed.

Now as per latest reports, the 86 year old industrialist has passed away and this has come as a shocking news for the nation. As per India TV reports, the security will be increased and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis may reach the hospital late at night.

Ratan Tata has been an idol for millions and has also done a lot of charity, helping not just the needy but also contributing to the wealth building of the country.

It was earlier reported Ratan Tata was serious and was on life support.

On Monday, Ratan Tata, had dismissed the rumours saying that there was no cause for concern and that he was in good spirits and undergoing checkups for age-related medical conditions.

Ratan Tata has a great presence on social media where parts of his speeches are taken as life and business lessons, teaching and guiding millions of people, including the youth, about having the right mindset, being kind to people and country and being selfless.

For the unversed, Ratan Tata was the chairman of the Tata Group till 2012 until he decided that it’s enough. He stepped down from the post at the age of 78 and it’s a matter of pride that Ratan Tata, the man who himself loved fast cars and flying planes, gave India a unique product – Tata Nano, the Rs 1 Lac car.

Not just that as we got India’s largest IT company, Tata Consultancy Services aka TCS which was ahead of Wipro and Infosys. In addition to that, the company under his chairmanship, made global acquisitions of Tetley (for $450 million) in 2000, Corus (for GBP 6.2 billion) in 2007, and Jaguar Land Rover (for $ 2.3 billion) in 2008.
