As the ravishing Raveena Tandon turns a year older on October 26 one heard a lavish joint birthday bash with Asin was being planned.
Asin shares Raveena’s birth date. And the two lovely actresses were plotting and planning a pooled party for weeks.
Just hours before D Day on Saturday Raveena decided to cancel the joint party.
Sighing deeply Raveena revealed, “Asin and I are very close friends. And we share the same birthday. So we were planning a party together where we wanted to invite all our friends from the film fraternity. Sadly I just can’t make it to the party. I’ve been in and out of Mumbai lately with no time for my family. My kids threatened to disown me if I don’t stay home for my birthday at least.”
With a deeply regretful heart Raveena has opted out of her party with Asin. “I was so looking forward to it. But now Asin would have the party on her own. I will just drop in to wish Asin. The rest of the evening would be spent with my husband, my parents, in in-laws and my two children. Plus, I’ve my adopted daughter Pooja who is married and settled in South Africa , coming to Mumbai with her son on my birthday. He is sweetest baby I’ve ever seen. I can’t ask for more.”
Raveena is in a blissfully happy space. “I sometimes feel there is so much happiness in my life. Kahin kisiki nazar na lag jaye. By God’s grace, I’ve the most amazing husband and my children are growing up with the right values.”
Raveena is a strict mother while her husband Anil Thadani pampers the kids. “I discipline them. One of us has to. I make sure the kids eat right. I don’t allow them to have junk food and aerated drinks.”
On the career front too Raveena has made a much better comeback after marriage than her contemporary Karisma Kapoor who flopped miserably with Dangerous Ishq.
Says Ms Tandon generously, “I think all of us from my generation Lolo (Karisma), Tabu, Urmila and I are doing well for ourselves. Manisha Koirala had a health setback recently. But she has bounced back so beautifully. I want all of us to be happy and healthy.”
Raveena is all set to play a club crooner in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet. “I’ve known Anurag from the time he wrote Shool for Ram Gopal Varma. He said, ‘Ma’am only you can do this part.’ I’ve two fantastic songs to perform. I can’t stop humming the numbers.”
Luckily Raveena is good shape to do song-and-dance numbers.
Says Raveena, “Whether it was Tu cheez badi hai mast mast and Shaher ki ladki early in my career or Aa gunah karle and Yeh Raat in Aks , I’ve always been lucky with my songs. In fact I’ve been blessed all my life.”
