MUMBAI: On Tuesday Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey stepped down from his post by taking VRS from the services.
After the officer resigned, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde released a statement which read, "The Request for VRS by DGP Bihar Gupteshwar Pandey & Granting VRS by Bihar Govt and Union Govt in 24 hrs is as fast as Bihar Govt Transfer of FIR against Rhea to CBI and acceptance of it by Union Govt. This is not justice for SSR but Justice for Gupteshwar Pandey."
Bihar DGP was actively looking into the investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput case after an FIR was filed by SSR's father at Patna Police Station. Earlier this month, he had hailed Rhea's arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) as a big win for Bihar.
If the reports are to be believed, Gupteshwar Pandey will be contesting the upcoming state Assembly polls.

He also got himself involved in controversy for his comments aimed at Rhea Chakraborty. Reportedly, after the Supreme Court ordered CBI to probe SSR's death case, he had said that Rhea did not have the "aukat" to make comments on Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.
