One man's loss is another's gain. After Kapil Sharma unceremonious exit, YRF has signed on Riteish Deshmukh to play the lead role in Bank-Chor.
In an elaborate press release sent by YRF, Ashish Patil, Business & Creative Head, Youth Films, Brand Partnerships & Talent Management at Yash Raj Films, said, "Riteish is one of the most exciting actors of today. From villainy to action in his upcoming ‘Lai Bhaari’, there’s nothing he can’t do! And with Bank Chor, Riteish is in a zone that’s a serious strength – comedy! He adds the scale, madness and weight that this project deserves. The audiences are in for one helluva ride now!”
Riteish too sounded excited about his new venture with India's premiere film production company. "Loved the script. Loved the character. Loved the team. I’ve always liked to push the envelope with the choices I make. This film allows me to potentially rip it apart. Watch out there’s a new Bank-Chor in town!"
Bank Chor is scheduled to go on the floors immediately and is planned for an early 2015 release.
We wondered what Riteish had to say about replacing comedian Kapil Sharma. But when we rang up, the affable actor excused himself by saying, "I am busy and will talk to later."
Well, given Riteish's innate comic timing and new found streak of villainy, we are sure he will add a new dimension to Bank-Chor. Wonder what Kapil has to say about his replacement.
