Robbie Coltrane, loved by all Harry Potter fans as the gentle half-giant Hagrid, died on October 14th at the age of 72. No cause of death was revealed, but his agent thanked the medical staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Scotland, "for their care and diplomacy". Other than featuring in 8 Potter films as the young wizard's mentor, he had a wide variety of other parts including when he played a former KGB agent turned Russian mafia boss in two James Bond films- 'Goldeneye', and 'The World Is Not Enough', with Pierce Brosnan in the lead.
Alan Rickman brought one of the most complex characters in the entire Harry Potter series to life: Professor Severus Snape. Alan Rickman passed away at the age of 69 on January 14, 2016, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. The actor's death was mourned by author JK Rowling, the entire cast, fans and several Hollywood film stars.
Richard Harris played the role of Professor Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, in the first two Harry Potter films. Sadly, he passed away after battling with Hodgkin's Disease in 2002. His death moved the makers to recast the character of Dumbledore, with Michael Gambon taking up the part for the rest of the series.
Known for her portrayal as Narcissa Malfoy, Helen served the dark side in the film. The actress, who was loved for playing the wife of Lucius Malfoy and mother of Draco Malfoy, died of cancer at her home in London. She was just 52 at the time.
