MUMBAI: Amid the ongoing vaccination drive, the government, earlier in the month of June, announced free vaccination for all above 18 years. The real issue right now however is vaccine shortage. Some people are of the opinion that vaccination should have been open to all from the very beginning. Perfect Scream actor Salim Diwan holds a similar thought process.
“I think that there should have been an open vaccination for each and every citizen from the beginning because this virus affects every age group badly. So the Indian government should have used maximum budget to give free vaccinations to its citizens first so that the country could get over this deadly virus,” says the actor, who is yet to get inoculated.
The pandemic, according to Salim, has made us realise the importance of taking care of our physical and mental health. “Now probably we all have understood that Jaan Hai to Jahaan hai. And, I think we should all be grateful to God for teaching us the meaning of life and its purpose, though I never would have wished for a pandemic to make us all realize this. These times have also reminded us what we are, deep down to our bones, minus hypocrisies,” he adds.
This virus has not just a threat to our existence but has also affected the economy. “We are in an unpredictable situation which we were not expecting, nor are we used to such things. So we don’t have the power to tackle but we can endure it, have patience and strive hard while facing all the difficulties while moving ahead. It’s very tough but we don’t have any other option. The good thing is that we all are supporting each other, standing together to fight this pandemic,” he says.
