MUMBAI: Singer Mika Singh recently landed himself in trouble after performing in Pakistan's Karachi. Considering the tension between the two nations, Mika’s decision to sing in Pakistan has not gone down well with the citizens of India.
He recently faced a ban by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees association (FWICE) for prioritizing money over the nation. Later, he apologised and the ban has been lifted. However, the Federation had said that if any artist works with Mika, then he or she too could get banned. And, Salman Khan, who had an upcoming six-city concert in the US planned ahead, seems to have saved some trouble for him. The US Tour was to begin on 25 August has now been postponed to a later date.
Also, Salman has taken a stand not to perform with Mika. A friend close to the actor said to India Forums it is imperative for the star to distance himself from elements whose nationalism may be under scrutiny. “Nowadays you can’t be a star/celebrity in India without being ‘politically correct’! Mika may have apologised for performing in Pakistan, but he remains tainted — as he went ahead and performed in Pakistan, ignoring the country’s sentiment,” said a source.
