Sanjay Dutt requests for furlough extension

Sanjay Dutt

Now this was anticipated. After spending the New Year with his family, Sanjay Dutt has asked for yet another extension of his furlough even as Maharashtra government has a ordered a probe into the repeated grant of leaves from jail to the high-profile actor.

The actor whose current furlough will come to an end soon has now sought yet another extension. "Sanjay Dutt has filed for an extension, but we are yet to receive clearance from the Mumbai police. A decision of extending the furlough will be taken only after we get the clearance," Rajendra Dhamane, deputy inspector general (prisons) was quoted telling the media.

It is believed that jail authorities need  a no objection certificate (NOC) from the local police station to grant a furlough extension.

Sanjay who was released on furlough in mid-December last year was seen at a special screening of PK and also hosted a few close friends for a private New Year bash at his residence.

The actor who was sentenced to prison for possessing sophisticated firearms has spent more 118 days out of jail on parole and furlough. Clearly, Sanjay has been enjoying the special benefits of being a celebrity. It remains to be seen if the concerned authorities will grant Sanjay's request yet again.
