MUMBAI: Shakti Kapoor is famous for his villainous and comic roles in Bollywood. He has appeared in 200 films. He has also appeared on Bigg Boss 5 in 2011. He has landed in controversies a few times.
Around 16 years ago, the actor was embroiled in a sting operation that exposed his antagonist face in real life too. He was caught in a controversy after the video showed him offering a woman help in her career in return for sex.
The undercover sting operation was held by India TV. In the video clip, Shakti Kapoor was heard talking to the reporter saying, “I want to make love to you… and if you want to come into this line (film industry), you have to do what I am telling you to do.” He also said that he had slept with three actresses.
He was banned from the industry by the Film and Television Producers Guild of India. The undercover sting operation which exposed the phenomenon of the casting couch prevalent in Bollywood came as a shock to the entire nation and the film fraternity.
Shakti Kapoor claimed that the video was doctored. Furthermore, he said that the undercover reporter met him several times and threatened to commit suicide if he did not come to the hotel room.
The bans were lifted owing to no proof.
