Singham Returns collects 30 crore on Day 1

Singham Returns
Singham Returns has returned with a bang. Released yesterday on Independence Day, the movie made most of the national holiday by grossing approximately 30 crore at the box-office as single day collections. With this Singham Returns overtook Kick to emerge as the biggest opener of 2014 thus far and with the holiday weekend extending till Sunday, Singham Returns seems well set to break new grounds. Agrees noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "Singham Returns has opened extremely well at the box-office and though the current estimate shows 30 crore as the first day collection. The official figures are yet to come in since it was a national holiday yesterday. Also given the fact that we have a holiday weekend, the movie should do extremely well over the next two days." Taran also feels Singham Returns could end up becoming Ajay Devgn's highest grossing movie till date." This movie looks poised to break Singham's record and it will most certainly do so in the next 4 to 5 days and could end up becoming Ajay's highest grosser ever." With Mardaani set to release next week, the collections could probably see a dip. But Taran feels it's a bit too early to speculate. "Weekday collections are most crucial for a movie. One will have to wait and see how it fares in weekdays." Looks like Rohit Shetty has yet another winner on hands after Chennai Express.
