Ever since the rumors of Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal's marriage surfaced, controversy has surrounded them. The news was dominated by rumors that Sonakshi's brothers, Kussh and Luv Sinha, and parents, Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha, did not attend her brother's wedding. There were also rumors that her family disapproved of her marriage to Zaheer. Trolls attacked the couple over their interfaith marriage, drawing criticism to their small-scale Bandra ceremony. The pair disabled comments on their Instagram postings as a result, avoiding needless animosity and hate when they shared pictures from their special day. Days after being hitched, the "Heeramandi" diva has now quietly responded to the bullying by posing a comment on an illustration by Prasad Bhat that features parodies of Sonakshi and Zaheer from their wedding reception.

"Truest words!!" Sonakshi commented on and reshared Bhat's message, which discusses how "love is the universal language." This is Adorable! Thankyou.” A charming drawing of Sonakshi wearing a red saree with sindoor and bindi and Zaheer wearing a bandhgala with brilliant smiles is featured in the illustration.

Shatrughan Sinha also commented on the trolling saying, “Anand Bakshi saab has written about such professional protestors, ‘Kuchh to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna. To this I would like to add, ‘Kehne waale agar bekar, bekaam-kaaj ke ho to kehna hi kaam ban jata hai (For unemployed people, this is all the work they have).’ My daughter has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional.”

He added, “A wedding is a very personal decision between two people; no one has the right to interfere or comment. To all the protestors I say – go, get a life. Do something useful with your life. Aur kuchh nahi kehna (I have nothing else to say).”
