Tellychakkar.com is the leading entertainment and information portal which serves you masaledar spicy news from the fascinating world of television and movies. Now, spreading our wings, we are steadily expanding and capturing the pulse of the entertainment industry down South. One such step was getting to view a mega TV award show, the Eight Annual Vijay Awards hosted in Chennai on 4 July. The award recognises the best work in the Tamil film industry across 40 categories. Present at the event were stars from not just south but also from the Bollywood industry. Celebrities such as Kamal Hassan, Vijay, Surya, AR Rahman, Shruti Hassan, Hansika, AR Murugadoss, Radhika, Ajith, Karthik, Nayanthara were accompanied by the badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, who attended the extravaganza for the second time in a row. SRK, who received the award for ‘entertainer of Indian cinema’, told audiences that he loves coming to Vijay Awards every year. “You don’t have to call me to take an award. If you allow me to stand in the presence of such esteemed audiences, I will keep coming every single time,” he said while receiving the award from superstar Rajinikanth’s wife Latha. SRK, who came in during the latter half of the show, quickly became the centre of attention with celebrities posing with him for selfies, the best of it being the on stage selfie that was taken with the whole celebrity cast including Kamal, Surya and Rahman. Shruti Hassan, who looked stunning in a black dress, revealed that during her childhood days she had asked her farther (Kamal Hassan) to introduce her to SRK but he forgot, leaving Shruti miffed with her father for one week. Actress Hansika, who has found quite a fan following down South, eagerly went to SRK for a selfie as well! Yet, the best part of the night was surely when one got to see Rahman sing on stage with SRK on the side dancing. Vijay and Surya are of course the favourites of Tamilians (after superstar Rajinikanth), but after SRK entered the event, he just stole all the limelight. The actor also took to Twitter to express his delight at attending the Vijay Awards. As far as the awards are concerned, Kamal Hassan got best actor for Vishwaroopam, AR Rahman got best music director, Vijay received favourite actor, Kamal got favourite director. The award that SRK received last year ‘Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan award for excellence in Indian cinema’ went to Shankar this year who has directed movies such as Jeans, Nayak, Enthiran (Tamil version of Robot), Nanban (Tamil remake of 3 Idiots) and Anniyan (Tamil version of Aparichit).
