Noted playback singer Suresh Wadkar will be honoured with the prestigious P Savalaram award for his contribution to music in a function to be held on 23 December (2012).
The award would be given to him under the aegis of the Thane Municipal Corporation. The award, carrying a citation and Rs 25,000 in cash, will be given to Wadkar, who has enthralled music lovers with innumerable songs in many languages.

Besides Wadkar, Marathi singer Pushpa Paghdhare will be honoured with the 'Ganga-Jamuna' award, named after a famous Marathi song of yesteryears penned by the late lyricist, for her contribution to Marathi music.
The Janakavi P Savalaram award is given jointly by the 'Savlaram Kala Samiti' and Thane Municipal Corporation in memory of the lyricist of the yore who had also been the president of the civic body.
