MUMBAI: Actor Tanuj Virwani and Akshara Haasan, daughter of Kamal Haasan, were in a relationship for four years before eventually parting ways. Their breakup occurred after Akshara's private photos were leaked online, leading to a period of no contact between them. Recently, Tanuj opened up about their relationship and revealed why they are not in touch.

Speaking about his exes, Tanuj said, “I am friends with many of my exes, and more than friendship, we have mutual respect for each other.” He added, “Sometimes when you lose respect for your partner and you don’t take a stand for them when you have to, then I may forgive but not forget. In that case, I don’t have to be friends. We are happy in our respective space.”
He went on to clarify that their breakup was unrelated to the images that were leaked. He said that in a scenario like this, one should either presume he is innocent or take responsibility for it; if the latter, then one should speak up for him. Akshara acknowledged that everyone had their reasons, but he did not adopt that stance. He continued by saying that he no longer found the issue to be important.
Virwani revealed in the same interview that when they initially started dating, his wife Tanya Jacob—who normally does not get in the way of his interviews—had doubts about the circumstances surrounding Akshara Haasan. Tanuj responded in the affirmative when asked if Tanya had ever enquired about his history with Akshara.
He went on to say that he had met Tanya around the time he broke up with Akshara, and although though they were just friends at the time, Tanya had asked him about the incident—possibly out of curiosity or concern. Tanuj said that he responded to her then with the same sincere response, and that was the end of it.
In December of last year, Tanuj Virwani tied the knot with his fiancée Tanya Jacob in a wedding with a Christmas theme in Lonavala. This is the couple's first child they are expecting.
