MUMBAI :Earlier, there was news doing the rounds that Vicky Kaushal was in talks with filmmaker Laxman Utekar for another film, even while their upcoming rom-com together, co-starring Sara Ali Khan, is set to release mid-2023. The film with Sara Ali Khan is supposed to be a social comedy about a married couple who try their hand at the Prime Minister's Awas Yojana so that they may get a house of their own. Well there is an update about Vicky Kaushal-Laxman Utekar’s next as well.
According to rumours, their new film is set to be a high-budget warrior drama film. Produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, sources close to the film have shared that Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar’s next film is all set to be a larger-than-life biopic of Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was the eldest son of the founder of the Maratha Empire and the warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Reports say that Vicky has agreed to play the lead role, and even Laxman has begun his preparation to make the film on a massive scale. The untitled film will display the bravery of Sambhaji Maharaj, who was known for his supreme sacrifice and tactics for winning wars.
The source said, “Laxman Utekar, who has previously directed light-hearted films like Luka Chuppi and Mimi, has been planning to make a film on Sambhaji Raje (as Sambhaji is formally called) for a long time. It’s an ambitious passion project that he is finally set to bring to life, and he is leaving no stone unturned to make it as grand as possible. He has been working on this project for the past six months and has brought on board a team of top-notch creative and technical talents. The writing is finished, and Laxman and his team are currently neck-deep in pre-production. Dinesh Vijan is giving his full support and has sanctioned a huge budget to make this film a truly visual spectacle.” He further added that the makers are hoping to begin shooting by the middle of this year.
