Vivek stated in an interview with the well-known news source, “A perfectly fun day turned into pain with a terrible motorcycle accident breaking my left leg in three places. I remember my big brother Ajay and my buddy Abhishek at my side, carrying me to the hospital, being my side through the agony of broken bones tearing through my skin with blood everywhere.”

He added, “No, worse was yet to come. I came to know Mani Anna had a heart attack after witnessing my accident. Whilst both of us were recovering in the hospital, Ajay and Abhishek were with me, lifting my spirits with jokes and painkillers in a not-so-lucid state.” Vivek said it took him four months to recover.

“After many complications, four months later, it felt like a reunion on the sets. The entire unit lifted my morale while I limped through shooting the songs Fanaa and Anjana Anjani. Sometimes I wonder how we pulled it off,” he said.

Mani Ratnam's film Yuva was an enormous hit. The movie was well-liked not just in Hindi (Aayutha Ezhuthu) but also in Tamil. Vivek gave a fantastic performance as well. The focal point of the movie is three young people, Michael (Ajay Devgn), Arjun (Vivek Oberoi), and Lallan Singh (Abhishek Bachchan), whose lives become linked because of state politics, are the focus of this Kolkata-set movie. The highs and lows of being a young leader were shown in the movie.

Among the many accolades the movie received were Filmfares for Best Supporting Actor (Abhishek Bachchan), Best Supporting Actress (Rani Mukerji), Best Film – Critics, and Best Screenplay (Mani Ratnam).
