MUMBAI: Actress Yami Gautam, who recently wrapped up shooting for Shree Narayan Singh’s social drama film Batti Gul Meter Chalu alongside Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, is all set to do more for Mother Nature. Yami hails from the scenic mountain state of Himachal Pradesh, a region well known for lush forests, snowcapped mountains, valleys of flowers, and pristine-watered rivers. The place holds a lot of significance for Yami, who never misses a chance to go back whenever she isn’t shooting.
Himachal Pradesh, like many other states, has been grappling with pesticides and chemical-coated vegetables. Yami, who has always been vocal about choosing the organic way of living not just with her food but also her beauty regimen, decided to take matters into her own hands and plans to set up a greenhouse at her home in Himachal. The actress aims to have an organic garden with her choice of fruits, vegetables, and flowers growing. She will also plant trees all around the garden to help the growing air-pollution issues in the area. She aims to take it one step further by requesting other houses in the neighbourhood also to plant a few trees. On this decision, the actress said ‘There is already plantation there. I want to ensure it’s a process that doesn’t stop and am able to make it into an organic farm eventually. It is something I am inspired to do... I want to ensure the place is just not bought but it is utilized for something useful also it gives opportunity to ensure a chance to break away from the city life and reconnect to my Pahadi roots.’
What do you think of Yami Gautam?
We love the stance Yami is taking and hope the green house flourishes so that she has delicious chemical-free meals whenever she goes home on holiday.
