MUMBAI: Maharaj is a biographical legal drama set in the 19th century, directed by Siddharth P Malhotra. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra under YRF Entertainment. While Junaid Khan made his acting debut with this movie, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey play key roles. Additionally, Munjya actress Sharvari also plays a cameo role. Netflix released Maharaj on June 21, 2024, after Gujarat HC lifted its stay on the film’s release.

Maharaj is based on the 1862 Maharaj libel case. The film’s story revolves around Karsandas Mulji, a journalist and social reformer who was a leading supporter of women’s rights and social change. This role was played by Junaid Khan. People are appreciating the movie, which is now rising at the top in India and creating waves on OTT. It has also been successful in maintaining its ranking in the top 10 in 22 more nations.
Today, the cast of the movie celebrated the success of the movie. At the event, Sharvari was asked about her upcoming YRF universe female-led movie Alpha and if she is nervous about it.
To this, Sharwari said, “Honestly I think prep bohot hi mazedar hai. Alpha ek aisi film hai which is led by two females and it’s almost like breaking glass ceilings aur aap pehli baar dekhoge a movie led by 2 females, especially a universe, spy universe jahaan pe aapne humesha bohot bade superstars ko dekha hai. Aisi ek film mujhe shoulder karne ka mauka mil raha hai. I mean it’s the same universe as Shahrukh sir, JrNTR sir aur Hrithik sir, Salman sir, so many people. I think that as an actor it is the biggest blessing that I have received but I just keep my head down and focus and work really really hard, because it is a big deal for me and I hopefully stand up to the level that is expected of me.”
