While 2014 belonged to the three Khans of the industry, 2015 could well be the year of younger generation of Bollywood with Ranveer, Ranbir and Varun having big releases lined up. We list the movies that could make waves in the New Year.
Tevar - Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha
What's new - Rumoured couple Arjun Kapoor teaming up with Sonakshi Sinha in his father, Boney Kapoor's film. Also watch out for Manoj Bajpai who is playing a grey character.
What's not- Sonakshi playing a cliched run-of-the-mill Bollywood heroine role yet again.
Baby - Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Anupam Kher
What's new- The team of Special 26, Neeraj Pandey, Akshay Kumar and Anupam uniting again for a spy thriller.
What's not- An ageing Akshay still playing an action hero.
Dolly Ki Doli - Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao
What's new - The different story. Sonam Kapoor playing a con girl and duping people by fraudulently marrying them sounds fun.
What's not - Sonam's lackluster acting abilities and jinxed box-office record.
Shamitabh - Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush
What's new- Team Paa of R Balki and Big B reuniting again for this one. Dhanush will also be seen romancing Kamal Haasan's youngest daugher Akshara in the movie.
What's not- The focus is more on Amitabh than younger actors.
Roy - Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Jacqueline Fernandes
What's new- Ranbir and Arjun Rampal returning after long to the silver screen. Ranbir's chemistry with Jacqueline should be refreshing to watch.
What's not- The acting abilities of Jacqueline and Arjun.
Badlapur - Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui
What's new - Get set to watch Varun Dhawan saying bye bye to his chocolate boy image in this dark thriller. Nawazuddin Siddiqui adds extra zing to the movie
What's not- Excessive violence could be jarring.
Mastizaade - Sunny Leone, Tusshar Kapoor
What's new - India's most searched celebrity, the sensual Sunny Leone shaking her booty in a feature film again.
What's not- Sunny's brand of sense of humour still remains untested. Can she excite our senses enough through a sex-comedy?
Gabbar - Akshay Kumar, Shruti Haasan
What's new- Khiladi Kumar donning his action image and romancing a young Shruti Haasan.
What's not- Gabbar is a Tamil remake and Akshay hasn't really done good for himself with remakes lately.
Phantom - Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif
What's new - The pairing of Saif and Katrina and new foreign locations where the movie has been shot.
What's not- Saif's dismal box-office record.
Detective Byomkesh Bakshi - Sushant Singh Rajput
What's new- The look of Sushant Singh Rajput and Dibakar Banerjee's direction.
What's not - We would like to leave this space blank. The movie looks promising.
Bombay Velvet - Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma
What's new - Maverick director Anurag Kashyap helming this one with Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar as an actor onboard.
What's not - The multiple postponements the movie has been through.
Fan – Shah Rukh Khan
What's new - SRK's new look and seemingly different and new story.
What's not - Age is not on SRK's side. It remains to be seen how convincing he will look as a young fan.
Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo - Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor
What's new - Maine Pyar Kiya duo Salman and Sooraj joining hands for yet another family saga.
What's not - Salman and Sonam as an onscreen pair doesn't sound greatly exciting.
Dil Dhadakne Do - Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra
What's new - This multi starrer boasts of the best line-up of actors from Bollywood. Also ex lovers Ranveer and Anushka are back on screen.
What's not- We will leave this space blank yet again.
Jagga Jasoos - Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif
What's new - Ranbir and Katrina acting together. Need we say more?
What's not - Ranbir and Katrina's onscreen chemistry looks doubtful.
Bajirao Mastani - Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra
What's new - Auteur Sanjay Leela Bhansali is back with Ranveer Deepika and Priyanka for this period romance.
What's not- Period romances are doubtful starters in Bollywood.
