Prakash Jha officially announces sequels of Gangaajal and Rajneeti
In a glitzy event yesterday, noted director Prakash Jha laid bare his plans of rolling out six films from his movie stables. Out of these six, two will be sequels of his hits films, Gangaajal and Rajneeti. Making this announcement was Prakash himself who saw the move as a step forward in the progress of both realistic and commercial cinema. Prakash also took a nostalgia trip down to his younger days and fondly remembered how as a resident of Dahisar he once took a trip to a film set with his friend and was absolutely enchanted by the magic of shooting which finally gave birth in him the desire and dream to become a filmmaker and capture his thoughts and transform it on celluloid. Cheering Prakash and lending him complete support on this momentous occasion was his close friend and lucky mascot Ajay Devgn who was also the Chief Guest at the event. Both Ajay and Prakash reminisced about their 16-year old long friendship that took roots way back in the 90s. Since then, both Ajay and Prakash have went on to carve their own niches in Bollywood, the former as a bankable action superstar while the latter as a director capable of creating socially relevant yet commercially successful movies. Ajay and Prakash also announced their grandiose plans of making at least 12 films together a year. A surprise sprung out when the poster of Gangaajal's sequel was uncovered. While Gangaajal had Ajay Devgn essaying the lead role of an IPS officer, Gangaajal 2 will see a female protagonist instead of a male one. While Prakash didn't disclose the name of the actress who would be essaying the lead role, Ajay will not be seen in the film as an actor and will instead be presenting the movie that will directed by Prakash himself. Ajay and Prakash would however be teaming up for another mega-project titled Satsang which again bears the trade mark of one those gripping socially relevant dramas that Prakash is known for. The director however didn't throw much light on Rajneeti 2. Among the other films announced included We Are Kukkad Family directed by Riteish Menon, Lipstickwaale Sapne directed by Prakash's assistant Alkankrita Srivastava and Fraud Saiyyan directed by Saurabh Srivastav.
