CID Completes 18 Years: Reasons Why It Is The Best Show on Indian Television

CID Completes 18 Years

One of the most popular investigative shows on Indian television, CID, completes 18 years in 2015. From entertaining us with its interesting plots to introducing us to unforgettable characters, the show has become a cult classic with the audiences. It can give the Monks and Castles of American TV a run for their money...any damn day. As the crime saga continues to enjoy a high TRP, we tell you why this Sony Entertainment Television (Fireworks Productions) product is such a huge phenomenon...read on:

Caters to all age groups:

It's a show that's enjoyed by all age groups, irrespective of their interest. The format of the show is such that anybody can watch and relate to it. Since everybody in a family can sit together and watch the show, it's popularity is unparalleled. The small screen definitely lacks shows that can be watched by every single member of the family, so this is a nice change. Kudos to the team for tapping into this potential and exploring it year after year.

1100 episodes and counting!

Did you know that this longest running show has had over 1100 episodes (and counting)? What's more, the ace team of ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam) and his able team has solved over 850 cases, put more than 750 criminals behind the bars and saved 1000s of lives! Not to forget the countless viewers who have been entertained with the antics and clever crime-solving ways of the CID.

Awards and recognition:

The epic show has received more than 40 awards for acting, direction and story. It has been bestowed with honour from every nook and corner of the society. Moreover, in 2004, the show entered the ‘Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book of Records’ for shooting the longest episode at a stretch without a single cut. How many soaps and shows can boast of such a feat? We are not even counting the adulation and appreciation that the viewers have shown the show!

ACP is a household name:

ACP Pradyuman, Abhijeet and Daya are household names. In fact, 'Daya Darwaza Todo' is a dialogue that every youngster utters among his friends and relatives. It's taken the net by storm too! With memes, Facebook pages and Twitter handles being dedicated to the show. When college students are trying to impress their dates, they pull an ACP Pradyuman and not Sherlock Holmes. Enough said.

CID has gone international:

The quick-witted team is not limited to solving cases in Mumbai or India alone, as it has gone international with episodes being shot in UK, Switzerland and Paris. We hope in the years to come, the show explores many more cities and counties in the world.

Bollywood is a fan too!

If you thought only we were crazy about the show, you're definitely mistaken. Because Bollywood stars are huge fans of CID too. From Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Dvgan, Bipasha Basu, Sonakshi Sinha, Rajeev Khandelwal, to Ekta Kapoor, Anoop Soni, Ronit Roy and Rani Mukerji, many top stars have made guest appearances on the show. And they are all self-confessed fans of the ACP and his team.

Are you huge fans of the show too? Let us know why you swear by CID...
