Just 24 hours after her favourite deity left her home after a 11 day stay, Ekta Kapoor was ready for a wild party.
Her late night baby Kahiin To Hoga completed two years last week, but the high priestess of soap waited till Saturday to throw a bash that required her guests to walk in, in their bare minimum.
While speculation bristled with curiosity about which actors would turn up in the skimpiest of outfits, reality turned out to be more of a damp squib with skin show restricted to decent limits. The party at Ekta's Juhu Krishna Bungalow, got underway well after midnight, with all loyal actors turning up to let their hair down.
Media coverage was restricted to the ground floor of Ekta's opulent bungalow, and the dressed up (or undressed, as the case might be) actors headed up to the third floor where DJs belted out the latest hits, tequila shots did the rounds and the air was heavy with smoke, perfume and the aroma of succulent starters that did the rounds.
Black was the dominant colour of the evening - black mini skirts, black shirts completely unbuttoned, tight black leather trousers, black halter tops, and black tube tops were all in attendance. KTH's stunning lead Aamna Shariff chose to make a difference - looking ravishing in a very un-Kashish like white dress that climbed high above her knees!
Gauri Pradhan, Anju Mahendru, Chetan Hansraj, Aly Hassan, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Natasha, Bhairavi Raichura and Shoma Anand were all in black. Kishwar Ahluwalia in an orange outfit chose to be close to fiance Hiten Paintal all evening, Abhay Vakil and Karishma Tanna, now co-stars in Paalkhi, preferred shades of white in their dress, that didn't reveal much!
It was the older generation that bared the most. Deepak Parashar stood out in shorts and a shirt that was open all the way down. Cezanne Khan, Gaurav Chopra and Ronit Roy (yes, the loyalty stays!) preferred conventional party wear - floral shirts, Saakshi Tanwar came mysteriously draped in a maroon shawl, that to the disappointment of the paparazzi, covered just a regular top and flowing skirt!
The action however started when Ekta herself entered around 1.30 am, dressed in a printed top and black mini skirt, looking as delighted as a child surrounded by her favourite toys. Forcing test tubes filled with tequila shots down her guests's throats, she danced with most of the actors, playing the perfect hostess to the hilt.
The music played well after 4 am, by which time sobriety was not a virtue many actors could have claimed to possess, but then, no one was complaining. After punishing shoot schedules, gruelling deadlines and then the unprecedented downpour in July that dampened more than just spirits, an Ekta party was probably much needed to put the pep back into the Balaji camp. And if the tempo of the party was anything to go by, the party certainly served its purpose!
