Reality tv goes a step further!

Reality television is all set to enter the digital age! Channel [V] has launched Mobile Singer, a first-of-its-kind interactive hunt on the wireless platform. The show will be judged by disco king Bappi Lahiri and auditions will start from 7 October. "I am sure its going to get a humungous response. We have ghataoed (reduced) the struggle of reality show aspirants. They can just call up a given number and sing a Bappi number," says Channel V head honcho, Amar Deb. From the entire pool of entries received, the best will be short listed. Bappi will be aided by vocal experts at the local and national level to ensure that everyone gets a fair shot at winning. The finalists will be flown down to Mumbai to spend some quality time with Bappi learning the tricks of the trade and honing their skills before the winner is finally declared. The winner will then get an opportunity to cut a music album with Bappi Lahiri - an album that will comprise of numbers specially composed by the star singer. Bappi Lahiri seems to be a very unusual candidate for a Channel V show, but Amar sounds confident, "His songs are timeless! They play it at discos, and remixed till today." Bappi too seems very excited about his new venture. "It's a fantastic idea. We are looking for a playback singer, who wants to become the nexr Sonu Nigam or Kumar Sanu. Surely, I can recognize a good voice when I hear it, after all, I have been in this industry for 32 years," says Bappi, who believes that judging should be left to qualified people.
