I don't watch TV's current top shows: Aamir Ali

Aamir Ali

Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls (Cinevistaas), a new show on &TV, will talk about the issues of women. It's touted to be lot different from other entertainers on 'kitchen politics'. The show is based on Anuja Chauhan’s book ‘Those Pricey Thakur Girls’.

Actor Aamir Ali, last seen on SAB TV’s popular show FIR,  would soon be enthralling the audiences as ‘Dylan Singh Shekhawat’ on this show. We caught up with the dashing star to know more about his role...take a look…

Tell us about your character?

I am playing Dylan Shekhawat, a star reporter and news anchor. Dylan is a practical person who does not let emotions or any biases ruin his decision. He is funny but in a sarcastic way. Being an outspoken individual, he is very honest and at times blunt at expressing what he thinks. Dylan is effortlessly charming and women fancy him. But he is not a big believer in love and marriage.

Which show of yours is closer to your heart?

First is Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki because it was Sooraj Bharjatya ji’s show. Second would be Nach Baliye because I was paired with my real baliye (Sanjeeda Sheikh). And thirdly FIR because that show was really very close to my heart.

What do you think was the reason for FIR going off air?

I think timing. The show had a lot of changes in the time slots. Initially, it was weekly and later it started airing on weekends and then again weekly. They played with the time slot, which led to low TRPs.

Why are we not seeing you in any movies?

Television loves me so much that it is not leaving me.  As I complete shooting for a show, I get a new show. I would love to share this one incident...I had a bump on my forehead and was going for the surgery. Soooraji called me and said 'you have to come for the shoot'. I told him about the surgery, but he didn't relent. I couldn't say no to that man as I love him. If there is any angel in our industry, it is none other than Sooraj Bharjatya. I started my first day of shoot with a bandage on my forehead for Jhilmil Sitaaron Ka Aangan Hoga. So where is the time to do a movie?

Do you and Sanjeeda talk about your professional lives?

Sanjeeda and I don’t talk too much about our work, but we do have a casual chat. There are fewer talks about work and more about us. For this show also, I just told her that I was doing a new project, that’s it.

Do you think there has been any change in the content on TV of late?

There is not a huge jump in the content. They try to change it but unfortunately it becomes the same again.  There are few shows that are on number one or two but I personally don’t like to watch those shows.  I won’t take any names. This show is urban and real so people will easily connect to it.

You can watch Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls on &TV at 9pm from Monday-Thursday.
