Noted fashion designer and her fiancée Madhu Mantena are all set to tie the knot in November this year and it will be a destination wedding set in India. “I think we are looking at a destination wedding somewhere in India. The wedding will happen in November. We haven’t decided on the place yet. We have a few options in mind.”
Masaba who got engaged to Madhu in February this year says that there were many people influential in bringing them together. Ask how Madhu wooed her and the pretty designer says, “How did he woo me? Even I don’t know but actually we were put together by a lot of forces. Lots of people got us to come together.”
While Masaba being a fashion designer enjoys the spotlight, Madhu despite being the head of Phantom films and a partner at celebrity management company Kwan has always maintained a low-profile. And Masaba finds that trait about him quite appealing. “I think the best thing about Madhu is that he is not touched by the industry even though he is such an integral part of it. You know what this industry can do to people. To be at the helm of Phantom and Kwan managing both celebrity as well as talent day in and day out, you tend to lose some of yourself but he is still that little boy from Hyderabad. He is also very communicative and no matter how busy, angry, upset or sad he is, he will still put other people and their needs before him.”
Any plans of partnering Madhu in making films? “He won’t let me,” says Masaba and adds, “They are like businessmen and don’t like creative people coming in and spoiling the show. But I might still go and sit in his office.”
Despite being a fashion designer of great repute, Masaba doesn't enjoy designing clothes for films. "I did one film. I don’t enjoy such kind of work because I don’t think it needs my kind of distinct work. When I put 5 clothes from Zara and 2 from H& M it looks really tacky. So I don’t want to do something that I don’t enjoy and for the moment I am also busy with my own plans of expansion as far as my stores go. And then I also have to decide what to wear for my wedding.”
