Trailer Review: Tamasha is as sparkling as a picture postcard

Tamasha

All Ranbir-Deepika fans can finally rejoice as their second fare post-breakup is out! It’s Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha. While the trailer has whiffs of their last outing Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, we are ready to overlook that because we have so much faith in Imtiaz and RK-Deepu pairing.

The trailer opens with Ranbir’s monologue and he seems to be trying rather hard to break free of his flop status. Deepika is her exuberant self, smiling prettily and prancing around like a chilled-out gal.

The two play wanderers who want to explore everything before being bogged down by the miseries of life. But of course, their freewheeling, bohemian status explodes when they fall for each other, but it’s not that simple as it seems. As the trailer so emphatically states, ‘why always the same story?’ we are sure that there are ample twists and turns.

The background score is engaging, the dialogues are fun, urbane and witty and the two leads crackle the screen with their easy chemistry and firebrand kisses.

But what sets the movie apart is the breath-taking cinematography that captures the beauty of Corsica in all its grandeur. That’s going to be on many people’s dream vacay list. We know it’s on ours already!

The trailer is as sparkling as a picture postcard, but is that all there’s to it? We hope that there is a punchy story and exciting plot because we want Ranbir to reclaim his number one throne and the two to not waste their talent over a glossy film. Overall, it’s a breezy, romantic teaser that’s served with a stunning locale and A R Rahman’s killer music.

Tamasha, directed by Imtiaz Ali, releases on November 27, 2015.
