I am planning to put Newshour a bit more in the digital space: Arnab Goswami

Arnab Goswami

The all-powerful President, Editor-in-Chief and face of Times Now and ET Now, Arnab Goswami, is today one of the most formidable players in the Indian media, thanks to his impeccable style of reporting and anchoring.

With razor sharp socio-political insight, vision and extreme focus, Arnab is a voice which matters. When he speaks, the nation listens.

Revered by many across the globe, this Superman of an anchor recently spoke to Tellychakkar.com.

He shared that when journalism lacked its serious appeal, frustrated with the scenario, he planned to quit his profession. However, we all know that he is not a quitter. He mustered courage and returned to the ring to box the mundane and revolutionize the style of news broadcasting.

And boy he has succeeded.

He is popular and his primetime blockbuster Newshour is watched by millions.

He is also one of the most talked about (even trolled) figures in the social media space. Strangely, he is not on any such platform. Why? The question always baffled us. Thus we decided to ask it to Mr Orator Par Excellence. Does he get bothered by all the social media criticism? Does he react to it?

“For me, the most important factor about news is to form opinion about an issue. Hence, irrespective of the audience’s reaction it is a success on our part to draw the maximum engagement towards the matter. Hence, post my show, I check the tweets and conversation to get an idea about other’s opinion and perception on the fact. I believe that in whatever manner, it is a success on my part to draw individuals in his discussion session.”

He continued: “I have a team of twenty to twenty five people, who are working hard on it and on a personal front I am learning the same. After our Times Now news app, I am keeping an eye to develop a mobile website and this year I am planning to put Newshour a bit more in the digital space.”

So what are his thoughts on the rapidly emerging digital space? “As a medium television will surely dominate for next ten years, but there is also a huge audience in the digital platform, which we don’t want to miss out. We are even planning to be active on periscope to reach out to the young audience who are mostly on digital platforms. And that is the reason why we publish special edited section of my show that is more suitable for the digital audience.”

Confident about his channel and its coverage for upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly election and verdict day, he shared, “During the elections our viewership goes higher, which indicates the credibility the channel enjoys. The kind of coverage we do is completely different from the traditional means, which other media houses used to do in earlier times. This time we are introducing many new statistical tools and software, which will help to define election result analysis. Having said that I would like to add, at times it is difficult to get the perfect picture as at time samples can be misleading due to the fact that samples often does not reveal the actual picture.”

With his determinist approach and focus to continue with the success story of the channel, we believe this man will soar high with each passing day. We wish him luck for the same.
