MUMBAI: Actor Ranveer Singh Malik, who plays the role of Gulshan in the show Suman Indori, produced by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah's Studio LSD, says he was hesitant to take up the character initially. However, he adds that he has loved how much everyone appreciates him in the role.

“I was a little apprehensive about taking this role initially, but the moment I started performing it, I was appreciated by every crew member, co-artist, and the makers. It felt nice to see everyone appreciating me. They love my character and the way I am portraying it,” he says.

He adds, “People tell me they only watch Suman Indori to see me. This is a big compliment for me. Even on the sets, it feels great when everybody appreciates you. That appreciation motivates an actor to continue pursuing this profession.”

When asked how he feels about the negative aspects of his character, he says, “My role is completely negative, and I have killed Rishi. I am a womanizer, and as you can see from my scenes, I always want both Suman and Devika. It’s a role, and my job is to perform it well—that’s what I do. But yes, it can be tough to play such a dark shade.” He adds, “Negative characters are much more important than anything else because we are in the 6:30 slot, not the prime 8-to-10 slot. So in this 6:30 slot, we always need to deliver big, high-voltage dramas, and for that, the characters become even more crucial. They are the ones who add spice to the show. So yes, negative characters are especially important during this time.”

Talking about his producer Prateek Sharma, he says, “I call him Sharma Ji. He is truly a gem of a person. I worked with him on the show Radha Mohan for approximately 2.5 years, and now he has entrusted me with this role in Suman Indori. I feel blessed to have someone like him in my life, offering me back-to-back opportunities. When he initially offered me this role, I was a bit apprehensive and unsure if I could pull it off. Honestly, I wasn’t convinced. And now, as everyone knows, I’m portraying the role so well and receiving a lot of appreciation for it. I am truly grateful to him for having faith in me and giving me this opportunity. I hope he achieves everything he desires in life. God bless him!”
